ChromaLuxe printing is a high-end printing technique that is both of archival quality and minimises damage, it uses a process called ‘dye sublimation’ which fuses images on to metal and achieves a high luminosity and a colour intensity comparable to the traditional Cibachrome and Kodachrome prints. Images are first printed with sublimation inks onto a transfer paper which is then applied to a specially coated aluminium panel. Under both heat and pressure the dye particles change into a gas, bond with the polymers in the aluminium, and then change back into a solid state, fusing the image and aluminium together. ChromaLuxe prints on aluminium are archival, highly resilient and require no additional glass, acrylic, lamination or coating to protect them. The dye sublimation process renders images waterproof, making artwork suitable for almost any interior or exterior environment.
